About MetadataViewer.org
Every file you create quietly records things about you: where you were, what device you used, who you are, when you worked. Most people find out the hard way — a photo that leaked a home address, a contract that named the wrong author, a "fresh" report whose metadata said 2019.
MetadataViewer.org is a single place to see that hidden data and remove it, for the formats people actually share: photos (JPG, PNG, WebP, HEIC, TIFF), PDFs, Word/Excel/PowerPoint documents, MP3s and MP4/MOV videos.
The one rule: nothing gets uploaded
A metadata tool exists to protect your privacy. Uploading your private files to someone's server to "check their privacy" is a contradiction — so this site doesn't have an upload endpoint at all. Files are parsed and cleaned with JavaScript on your own device, using the browser's FileReader API. Load the page, go offline, and everything still works. That's the proof.
Lossless by design
Cleaning shouldn't cost quality. For JPG, PNG, WebP, MP3 and MP4 the metadata blocks are removed at byte level — pixels, audio frames and video streams are copied untouched. PDFs and Office documents keep their full content; only the metadata dictionaries are blanked.
