Your files

We never receive your files. Period. All metadata viewing and removal happens locally in your web browser using client-side JavaScript. Files you select are read with the browser's FileReader API, processed on your device, and downloaded from your device. They are not transmitted to our servers or any third party — this site has no file-upload endpoint.

The one partial exception is the YouTube metadata viewer: it doesn't handle your files at all, but the video URL you enter is forwarded to YouTube's public oEmbed endpoint to fetch that video's public metadata. URLs are not logged by us.

Analytics & advertising

We may use privacy-respecting, aggregate analytics to understand which pages are useful, and we may show advertising (such as Google AdSense) on content pages to keep the tools free. Ad providers may use cookies as described in their own policies; we do not pass them any information about your files (we never have it in the first place).

Data we store

None about you personally. No accounts, no file logs, no fingerprinting. Emails sent to contact@metadataviewer.org are kept only to answer you.
